Project Manager I - Hazardous Materials/Asbestos Manager (Full-Time)

Mid-level Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
The Project Manager I will manage the hazardous materials and asbestos compliance program for a government contract. General Duties and Responsibilities:

- Coordinating hazardous material activities at state-wide locations - Coordinating with contractors to review and oversee hazardous material activities, including release reports, clean-up, and disposal - Implementing hazardous material management plans, including the performance of annual compliance audits - Reviewing contractor bid specifications and plans related to hazardous materials - Coordinating and performing hazardous material inspections and sampling - Preparing hazardous material inspection and sampling reports - Managing hazardous material database - Coordinating and providing hazardous material training

Requirements:

- Minimum of five years of project management experience with similar hazardous material work - Current State of Hawai'i Asbestos Certification - Current State of Hawai'i Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor Certification - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Detail-oriented with strong organization skills

Preferred experience but not required:

- Experience working with public agencies/municipal government - Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) - Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

Environmental Technician (Full-Time)

Entry-level, Mid-level Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 (annual) based on applicant qualifications
The Environmental Technician performs project fieldwork (e.g., collecting soil, water, petroleum product, and other media samples; field documentation; and subcontractor oversight). A successful candidate must be able to perform with the physical and mental demands of:

- Working outdoors in variable weather conditions - Working with hazardous substances, in confined spaces or in remote areas - Sitting, standing, and walking - Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of supplies or equipment up to 50 pounds - Working off-island for extended periods, as directed - Being detail-oriented - Working effectively in a busy field or office environment and working with deadlines - Working cooperatively with others - Working with minimal supervision - Personal and professional discretion and judgment in all matters - Executing safe work practices at all times - Have a valid driver's license and vehicle

Desired experience but not required:

- Knowledge of OSHA safe work practices - HAZMAT training and experience (lead-based paint, asbestos, fuel systems) - Basic knowledge of operating and maintaining field and industrial equipment - Good decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills - Knowledge of basic scientific and technical principles - Operational knowledge of Office 365 applications (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Chemist (Full-Time)

Mid-level, Upper-level Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
The Chemist provides high-level quality assurance and quality control evaluations of analytical laboratory reports and environmental data. This position offers technical support to project managers with managing and evaluating chemical data, while demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of EPA regulations and solid waste analytical methods for environmental media. A successful candidate must be able to perform the physical and mental demands of:

- Determining the appropriate analytical methods, sample preparation method, and laboratory required to meet project objectives - Assisting with identifying the contaminants of potential concern for site investigations - Researching and evaluating laboratory and field analytical methods - Managing subcontracted and laboratory interaction for project-specific tasks - Performing project tasks in accordance with environmental and other applicable rules and regulations - Assisting with preparing project plans, task assignments and technical reports, and client correspondence

Requirements:

- 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting preferred - Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills - Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills - Proficient with Office 365 applications (specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Education:

- (Preferred) Ph.D. or equivalent in related experience and qualifications - (Required) Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or other closely-aligned field of study from a U.S.-accredited four-year college or university (required)

Desired experience but not required:

- Knowledge of soil, groundwater, petroleum product, ambient air, soil vapor, and other media sample collection and analysis - Knowledge of field sampling equipment (e.g., PID, LEL, XRF, oil/water interface probe, water meter, etc.), equipment operation and maintenance (i.e., decontaminate, calibrate, charge, manage safe storage), and can provide training to field staff - HAZMAT/HAZWOPER Training

Environmental Scientist/Engineer (Full-Time)

Mid-level Salary: $55,000 - $75,000 (annual) based on applicant qualifications.
The Environmental Scientist/Engineer provides high-level project support to project managers and assists project managers with managing and developing staff. Requirements:

- 3+ years of general environmental consulting or related experience - Experience with Phase I environmental site assessments, groundwater, USTs, SPCC plans, solid and hazardous waste management - Significant field experience (e.g., soil, groundwater, soil vapor), - Regulatory knowledge (e.g., DOH TGM, Hawaii ERL) - Technical writing and computer skills - Have a valid driver's license and vehicle - Able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds, work remotely or on rough terrain, and travel intermittently - Proficient with Office 365 applications (specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Education:

- Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in Geology, Chemistry, Oceanography, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely aligned field of study

Desired experience but not required:

- Federal CERCLA experience highly desired - Project Management - Multi-increment sampling and analysis - HAZMAT/HAZWOPER Training
